The End of an Era?

Recently, a woman whom I respect very much in the Lord, wrote a letter which encourage me to ask God for a theme for this year. She has done it for many years now, and says that she has learned very much as a result.

I have been convicted lately, that I need to be more intentional about how I spend my time.
If I had to tell you what this "chapter" of my life is about, right now I'd say three things:
1. Living under grace (my theme)
2. Living intentionally
3. "Walking lightly" through life. I don't know if I stole that from someone, but it is the only phrase that describes my current desire - especially when it comes to building relationships.

As I started a (new) study of grace in the Scriptures, I came across Isaiah 55:2 which says, "Why spend money on what is not bread and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare."

All of these things have caused me to review some of my current practices, one of which is blogging.

I think that I started this blog out of a desire to connect with people. I long for deep connection with other people. I thought a blog would enable me to do that, but I have found that it does not satisfy. Actually, it just makes the desire for connection even greater. To quote the lovely Maureen, the "two-dimensionality" of this medium cannot replace what I am looking for.

I took a little break from the blog to focus on some other things. In the process, I found that I liked life without it. It isn't that I don't like to write or that I don't want to keep people updated. It's just that, as I try to figure out what purpose this blog serves in my life, or what need it fulfills, I think I have come to the point where I can say - there is none. Neither can I think of a need that this blog meets for my readers, which cannot otherwise be met.

So, I am bidding the blog world goodbye - at least until I can think of a reason that would make it worth the time I spend on it. I do plan on using it to keep you all informed when we are in China. So, check back then cuz I'll plan on posting if it is possible.

If you are the sort who needs to read a blog, there are plenty of other blogs out there which are far more interesting than mine. If you are the sort who wants to know what I've got "Rattling Around," then just ask. I will be happy to TALK about it with you.

And, just by way of an adoption update, our LID was Jan 6.

Later, peeps. And thanks for reading.
